DETAILS

Care Instructions
Leopard Plant requires moderate temperatures and high humidity for optimal growth. It prefers bright, indirect light but can tolerate some shade. Water the plant regularly to keep the soil evenly moist, but avoid waterlogging. Maintain a humid environment to mimic its natural habitat.
Soil
Farfugium japonicum prefers well-draining loamy soil that retains moisture without becoming waterlogged. A mix of garden soil, compost, and perlite or sand works well. Ensure the soil is rich in organic matter to support healthy growth.
Fertilizer
Use a balanced fertilizer with an N-P-K ratio of 10-10-10. Fertilize the plant every 4-6 weeks during the growing season to provide essential nutrients. Reduce or stop fertilizing during the dormancy period.
Repotting
Repot Leopard Plant every 2-3 years or when it outgrows its current pot. Choose a slightly larger pot with good drainage. Gently remove the plant from its old pot, shake off excess soil, and place it in the new pot with fresh soil mix. Water thoroughly after repotting.
Propagation
Propagate Farfugium japonicum through division in early spring. Carefully dig up the plant and separate the root clumps, ensuring each division has a healthy root system and foliage. Replant the divisions in suitable soil and water well.
Pruning
Prune the plant to remove dead or damaged leaves and spent flowers. This helps maintain its appearance and encourages new growth. Pruning can be done throughout the growing season as needed.
Toxicity
Farfugium japonicum is not known to be toxic to pets or humans. However, it is always advisable to keep plants out of reach of pets and children to prevent any accidental ingestion.
Additional
Leopard Plant can be grown both indoors and outdoors. When grown indoors, ensure it receives adequate humidity and indirect light. Outdoors, it can be used as a ground cover or in shaded garden beds. Protect the plant from strong winds and direct sunlight to prevent leaf damage.
