Instructions d'entretien
Fiddle-leaf figs prefer bright, indirect light and moderate temperatures. They thrive in high humidity and should be kept away from drafts. Water the plant when the top inch of soil feels dry, and ensure the soil remains evenly moist but not waterlogged.
Sol
Fiddle-leaf figs prefer well-draining loamy soil. A mix of potting soil, peat, and perlite works well. Ensure the pot has drainage holes to prevent waterlogging, which can lead to root rot.
Engrais
Use a balanced fertilizer with an N-P-K ratio of 3-1-2 during the growing season. Fertilize every 4-6 weeks to support healthy growth. Reduce feeding during the winter months.
Rempotage
Repot fiddle-leaf figs every 1-2 years or when they outgrow their current pot. Choose a pot that is 2-3 inches larger in diameter. Gently remove the plant from its old pot, loosen the roots, and place it in the new pot with fresh soil.
Propagation
Fiddle-leaf figs can be propagated through stem cuttings. Take a cutting with at least one leaf and a node, and place it in water or moist soil. Keep the cutting in a warm, humid environment until roots develop.
Taille
Prune fiddle-leaf figs to maintain their shape and remove any dead or damaged leaves. Pruning can also encourage bushier growth. Use clean, sharp scissors or pruning shears, and make cuts just above a node.
Toxicité
Fiddle-leaf figs are toxic to pets and humans if ingested. The sap can cause skin irritation, and ingestion can lead to gastrointestinal issues. Keep the plant out of reach of children and pets.
Supplémentaire
Fiddle-leaf figs can be sensitive to changes in their environment. Avoid moving the plant frequently, and acclimate it gradually to new conditions. Regularly clean the leaves to remove dust and allow for better light absorption.
