DÉTAILS

Instructions d'entretien
Prosthechea cochleata thrives in bright, indirect light and prefers warm, humid conditions. It should be kept in a location with moderate temperatures and high humidity. Watering should be frequent to keep the soil consistently moist, but not waterlogged. Ensure good air circulation to prevent fungal issues.
Sol
This orchid prefers a well-draining, loamy soil mix that retains moisture but does not become waterlogged. A mix of bark, perlite, and sphagnum moss can provide the necessary drainage and moisture retention. Ensure the pot has adequate drainage holes.
Engrais
Use a balanced orchid fertilizer with a nutrient composition of 20-20-20. Fertilize every two weeks during the growing season and reduce frequency during the dormant period. Dilute the fertilizer to half the recommended strength to avoid root burn.
Rempotage
Repot Prosthechea cochleata every 2-3 years or when the plant outgrows its pot. Repot in the spring after the blooming period. Gently remove the plant from its current pot, trim any dead roots, and place it in a slightly larger pot with fresh orchid mix.
Propagation
Propagate this orchid by division. During repotting, carefully separate the pseudobulbs, ensuring each division has healthy roots and at least one new growth. Plant the divisions in separate pots with fresh orchid mix and provide the same care as the parent plant.
Taille
Pruning is necessary to remove dead or damaged leaves and spent flower spikes. Use sterilized scissors or pruning shears to make clean cuts. Prune after the blooming period to encourage new growth and maintain the plant's shape.
Toxicité
Prosthechea cochleata is not known to be toxic to pets or humans. However, it is always best to keep plants out of reach of pets and children to prevent any accidental ingestion.
Supplémentaire
Ensure good air circulation around the plant to prevent fungal and bacterial infections. Regularly check for pests such as aphids, mealybugs, and spider mites, and treat promptly if any are found. This orchid can be grown both indoors and outdoors, provided the conditions are suitable.
