Instructions d'entretien
Tulips require bright, direct sunlight for optimal growth. They thrive in moderate temperatures and prefer environments with moderate humidity. Watering should be done sparingly, allowing the soil to dry out almost completely between waterings. Ensure good air circulation to prevent fungal diseases.
Sol
Tulips prefer well-draining loamy soil. The soil should be rich in organic matter but not overly fertile. Good drainage is crucial to prevent bulb rot, so a sandy loam mix is ideal. Avoid waterlogged conditions.
Engrais
Use a balanced fertilizer with an N-P-K ratio of 10-10-10. Fertilize once at the beginning of the growing season and again when the flower buds appear. Avoid over-fertilizing as it can lead to weak growth.
Rempotage
Repot tulip bulbs annually after the dormancy period. Remove the bulbs from the soil, clean them, and store them in a cool, dry place. Replant them in fresh soil in the fall, ensuring they are placed at the correct depth.
Propagation
Tulips are typically propagated by separating the offsets from the parent bulb. This is best done after the flowering season when the foliage has died back. Plant the offsets in well-draining soil and water sparingly.
Taille
Pruning is not required for tulips. However, you should remove spent flowers to prevent the plant from wasting energy on seed production. Allow the foliage to die back naturally to nourish the bulb for the next season.
Toxicité
Tulips are toxic to pets and humans if ingested. The bulbs contain compounds that can cause gastrointestinal distress, drooling, and in severe cases, convulsions. Handle with care and keep out of reach of children and pets.
