Onderhoudsinstructies
Chelone glabra prefers indirect bright light and moderate temperatures. It thrives in environments with high humidity and should be kept evenly moist. Regular watering is essential, especially during dry periods. The plant can tolerate partial shade but performs best with several hours of indirect sunlight.Bodem
Chelone glabra prefers loamy soil that is well-draining yet retains moisture. The soil should be rich in organic matter to support its nutrient needs. Ensure the soil remains consistently moist but not waterlogged.Kunstmest
Use a balanced fertilizer with an N-P-K ratio of 10-10-10. Fertilize the plant during the growing season, typically in spring and summer, to support its growth and flowering. Apply the fertilizer every 4-6 weeks.Verpotten
Repot Chelone glabra every 2-3 years or when it outgrows its current container. Choose a slightly larger pot with good drainage. Repotting is best done in early spring before the growing season begins.Voortplanting
Chelone glabra can be propagated through division or from seeds. Division is best done in early spring or fall. Carefully separate the plant into smaller sections, ensuring each section has roots attached. Seeds can be sown in a moist, well-draining soil mix and kept in a warm, humid environment until they germinate.Snoeien
Pruning is beneficial for Chelone glabra to maintain its shape and encourage new growth. Prune the plant in early spring before new growth begins. Remove any dead or damaged stems and trim back overgrown areas to promote a bushier appearance.Toxiciteit
Chelone glabra is not known to be toxic to pets or humans. It is generally considered safe to grow in gardens and around homes.Aanvullend
Chelone glabra is a great addition to gardens that have moist, shaded areas. It attracts pollinators such as bees and butterflies, making it beneficial for the local ecosystem.
