DETAILS

Onderhoudsinstructies
Hippeastrum reginae thrives in bright, indirect light and prefers moderate temperatures. It should be watered sparingly, allowing the soil to dry out almost completely between waterings. The plant enjoys moderate humidity and should be kept in a well-ventilated area. During its dormancy period, reduce watering significantly.
Bodem
The Queen Amaryllis prefers well-draining loam soil. A mix of potting soil with added sand or perlite works well to ensure proper drainage. Avoid waterlogged conditions as the bulbs are prone to rot.
Kunstmest
Use a balanced fertilizer with an N-P-K ratio of 10-10-10. Fertilize the plant every 4-6 weeks during the growing season. Reduce or stop fertilizing during the dormancy period.
Verpotten
Repot Hippeastrum reginae every 2-3 years or when the bulb outgrows its pot. Repot during the dormant period by carefully removing the bulb, trimming any dead roots, and placing it in fresh soil. Ensure the top third of the bulb is above the soil surface.
Voortplanting
Propagate by separating offsets from the parent bulb during repotting. Allow the offsets to dry for a day before planting them in individual pots. Keep the soil slightly moist until new growth appears.
Snoeien
Pruning is not typically required for Hippeastrum reginae. Remove spent flowers and dead leaves to maintain the plant's appearance and health.
Toxiciteit
Hippeastrum reginae is toxic to pets and humans if ingested. The bulbs contain toxic alkaloids that can cause vomiting, diarrhea, and other symptoms. Handle with care and keep out of reach of children and pets.
Aanvullend
To encourage blooming, provide a rest period by reducing watering and keeping the plant in a cooler, darker place for a few months. Resume normal care when new growth appears.
