DETAILS
Onderhoudsinstructies
Mango trees require full sunlight and thrive in warm, tropical climates. They prefer moderate temperatures and high humidity. Water the tree regularly but allow the soil to dry out partially between waterings. Ensure the tree is protected from frost and cold temperatures.Oogst
Mangoes (Mangifera indica) are typically harvested when they reach full maturity, which is indicated by a change in color, a slight softening of the fruit, and a sweet aroma. The harvesting period usually falls between late spring and early summer, depending on the climate and specific variety. To harvest, gently twist or cut the fruit from the tree, ensuring that a small portion of the stem remains attached to prevent sap leakage. It is important to handle the fruit carefully to avoid bruising. Post-harvest, mangoes should be stored at room temperature until they ripen fully, after which they can be refrigerated to extend shelf life.Bodem
Mango trees prefer well-draining loamy soil that is rich in organic matter. The soil should be slightly acidic to neutral in pH. Good drainage is essential to prevent root rot.Kunstmest
Use a balanced fertilizer with an N-P-K ratio of 10-10-10. Fertilize the tree during the growing season to promote healthy growth and fruit production. Avoid over-fertilizing, as this can harm the tree.Verpotten
Young mango trees can be repotted every 2-3 years to provide fresh soil and more space for root growth. Repot during the early spring before the growing season begins. Ensure the new pot has good drainage.Voortplanting
Mango trees can be propagated from seeds or grafting. Seeds should be planted in a warm, sunny location and kept moist until germination. Grafting is often used to produce trees with desirable fruit characteristics.Snoeien
Prune mango trees to remove dead or diseased branches and to shape the tree. Pruning should be done during the dry season when the tree is dormant. Avoid heavy pruning, as this can reduce fruit production.Toxiciteit
Mango trees are not toxic to pets or humans. However, the sap from the tree can cause skin irritation in some individuals. It is advisable to handle the tree with care and wash hands after contact.Aanvullend
Mango trees can take several years to produce fruit, but the wait is worth it for the delicious and nutritious mangoes. Ensure the tree is well-watered and fertilized during the growing season to promote healthy fruit development.BRENG EEN REVOLUTIE TEWEEG IN UW PLANTENVERZORGING
