DETAILS

Care Instructions
Alocasia zebrina requires bright, indirect light and should be kept in a warm environment with high humidity. Water the plant regularly to keep the soil evenly moist but not waterlogged. It prefers moderate temperatures and should be protected from cold drafts.
Soil
The plant prefers well-draining loamy soil that retains moisture without becoming waterlogged. A mix of potting soil with perlite or orchid bark can provide the necessary drainage and aeration.
Fertilizer
Feed Alocasia zebrina with a balanced liquid fertilizer, such as 20-20-20, every 2-4 weeks during the growing season. Reduce feeding during the dormancy period.
Repotting
Repot the plant every 1-2 years or when it outgrows its current pot. Choose a pot that is slightly larger than the current one and ensure it has good drainage. Repotting is best done in the spring.
Propagation
Propagate Alocasia zebrina through division. Carefully separate the rhizomes during repotting, ensuring each division has at least one healthy stem and root system. Plant the divisions in fresh soil and water thoroughly.
Pruning
Prune any yellowing or damaged leaves to maintain the plant's appearance and health. Pruning can be done throughout the year as needed.
Toxicity
Alocasia zebrina is toxic to pets and humans if ingested. The plant contains calcium oxalate crystals, which can cause irritation and swelling in the mouth and throat. Keep it out of reach of children and pets.
Additional
Ensure the plant has good air circulation to prevent fungal infections. Regularly wipe the leaves with a damp cloth to remove dust and allow the plant to breathe better.
