DETAILS

Care Instructions
Ophrys lutea requires bright, indirect light and moderate temperatures to thrive. It prefers a humid environment but can tolerate average household humidity levels. Water the plant sparingly, allowing the soil to dry out almost completely between waterings. Avoid overwatering as it can lead to root rot.
Soil
This orchid prefers well-draining loamy soil. A mix of loam and sand can be used to ensure proper drainage. The soil should be kept slightly dry between waterings to mimic its natural habitat.
Fertilizer
Use a balanced fertilizer with an N-P-K ratio of 10-10-10. Fertilize the plant sparingly during the growing season, approximately once a month. Avoid fertilizing during the dormancy period.
Repotting
Repot Ophrys lutea every 2-3 years or when the plant outgrows its pot. Repotting is best done after the dormancy period, in early autumn. Use a well-draining orchid mix and ensure the new pot has adequate drainage holes.
Propagation
Ophrys lutea can be propagated through division of the tubers. This is best done during the repotting process. Carefully separate the tubers and plant them in individual pots with fresh soil mix.
Pruning
Pruning is not required for Ophrys lutea. Remove any dead or yellowing leaves to maintain the plant's appearance and health.
Toxicity
Ophrys lutea is not known to be toxic to pets or humans. However, it is always best to keep plants out of reach of pets and children to avoid any accidental ingestion.
