EINZELHEITEN

Pflegehinweise
Turmeric requires bright, indirect light and thrives in warm, humid conditions. It prefers moderate temperatures and should be kept in a humid environment. Water the plant regularly to keep the soil evenly moist, but avoid waterlogging. During its dormancy period, reduce watering.
Ernte
Curcuma longa, commonly known as turmeric, is typically harvested 7 to 10 months after planting, when the leaves and stems start to dry out and turn brown. To harvest, carefully dig up the rhizomes, ensuring not to damage them. After harvesting, the rhizomes should be cleaned, boiled or steamed for about 30-45 minutes, and then dried in the sun or a drying chamber until they are completely dry. Proper drying is crucial to prevent mold and ensure long-term storage. Once dried, the rhizomes can be stored whole or ground into powder.
Boden
Turmeric prefers well-draining loamy soil that is rich in organic matter. The soil should be kept evenly moist but not waterlogged. Good drainage is essential to prevent root rot.
Dünger
Use a balanced fertilizer with an N-P-K ratio of 10-10-10. Fertilize the plant every 4-6 weeks during the growing season to support healthy growth.
Umtopfen
Repot turmeric every 1-2 years or when the plant outgrows its container. Choose a pot that is slightly larger than the current one and ensure it has good drainage. Repot during the early growing season.
Vermehrung
Turmeric is propagated by dividing the rhizomes. Cut the rhizomes into sections, each with at least one bud, and plant them in well-draining soil. Propagate during the early growing season for best results.
Beschneidung
Prune turmeric to remove dead or yellowing leaves and to maintain its shape. Pruning can be done throughout the growing season as needed.
Toxizität
Turmeric is not toxic to pets or humans. It is widely used in cooking and traditional medicine for its health benefits.
Zusätzlich
Turmeric is known for its anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties. It is a staple in many cuisines and is also used in traditional medicine for its potential health benefits.
