Hoya bella (syn. Hoya lanceolata subsp. bella), commonly called beautiful hoya, pretty waxflower, or miniature wax plant, is an epiphytic trailing subshrub in the Apocynaceae native to humid tropical forests of NE India and Myanmar. It bears delicate, lanceolate leaves and clusters of starry, fragrant white flowers with pink-purple centers. It does not have a true dormancy but slows growth in cooler, darker months. More moisture-loving and temperature-sensitive than many Hoyas, it thrives in warm, humid, bright conditions.

EINZELHEITEN

Pflegehinweise
Provide bright, filtered light and avoid harsh midday sun. Keep the potting mix evenly moist in the growing season, allowing only the top layer to dry slightly between waterings; reduce watering a bit in low light or cooler periods. Maintain warm, stable conditions and elevated humidity with good air movement. Avoid cold drafts and sudden temperature swings. Do not remove flower spurs, as plants rebloom from them.
Boden
Use a very well-drained, airy epiphytic mix rather than heavy potting soil. A blend of fine orchid bark, perlite or pumice, and a small amount of coco coir or peat works well. Ensure excellent drainage and avoid waterlogging; a shallow pot with ample drainage holes helps. Slightly acidic to neutral conditions are ideal.
Dünger
Feed lightly during spring and summer with a diluted balanced fertilizer at regular intervals. Reduce or pause feeding in winter. Occasional use of a bloom-leaning formula during bud formation can help flowering. Flush the medium periodically to prevent salt buildup.
Umtopfen
Repot infrequently—being slightly rootbound can encourage flowering. Repot in spring or early summer when roots fill the pot or the mix has broken down, stepping up only one size. Refresh with a fresh, chunky mix and handle brittle stems carefully.
Vermehrung
Propagate from healthy stem cuttings with at least one or two nodes during spring or early summer. Root in water or a moist, airy medium (bark/perlite) with warm temperatures and high humidity; bottom heat and bright, indirect light speed rooting. Layering trailing stems also works well.
Beschneidung
Routine pruning is not required; lightly trim after flowering to shape and remove dead or damaged growth. Never cut off the peduncles (old flower spurs), as they rebloom. Use clean tools and avoid heavy cuts that reduce flowering.
Toxizität
Generally considered non-toxic to cats, dogs, and humans. Like many Apocynaceae, it exudes a milky latex sap that can cause mild skin irritation in sensitive individuals; avoid ingestion and contact with eyes. Keep out of reach of chewing pets as a precaution.
Zusätzlich
Provide consistent warmth with slightly cooler nights to encourage bud set. Avoid overpotting and keep the mix airy. A hanging basket or elevated position suits its trailing habit and improves light and airflow around the foliage and flowers.
